Lori, a member of our missions and benevolence team, invites us to join in serving at Haywood Pathways:
Will you join us to serve those who are shelter insecure in our county?
Every time I have helped prepare dinner and serve it at Pathways, it has been a pleasure. The meal is planned in advance, the preparation is overseen by Chef Neil, and the residents express their appreciation while we get to talk. Cleanup is handled entirely by the residents.
Chef Neil plans delicious meals for volunteer teams to prepare and serve, and directs our energies. He is a pleasure to work with, allowing the team to get the meal ready as they wish without being bossy. His expertise in the kitchen is invaluable and he is always there if you have a question. He is a knowledgeable, experienced, and talented chef, lending art and interest to even the most basic ingredients. If you ask, he’ll have plenty of stories to tell while preparing the meal.
Preparing dinner usually takes about an hour and a half, and we serve the residents around 6pm. Every time I have served, most all of the residents have expressed their thankfulness for our being there to serve them. After serving, we get to sit down and simply talk to them and hear their stories.”
So I’d invite you to join us as we serve with one of our longtime ministry relationships at Pathways. You can sign up here to serve for the next dinner, January 29th (4:00-6:00pm).
